WENTWORTH, NH – The i’s have been dotted, the t’s have been crossed and Si Allen of West Windsor, VT is now legally and officially the proud owner of Legion Speedway, located on Route 25 at the Rumney/Wentworth town line. The real estate closing took place on January 19 in the Law Offices of Dechman and Cowie in Plymouth.

Allen, the 1975 Late Model Track Champion at Westboro Speedway and the 2005 Sprint Cars of New England Series Champion, expressed his appreciation to the members and officers of Lamont Kennison American Legion Post 76.

“The Post has supported the track for the last half century and my job is to carry on the great tradition they established,” Allen said. Post Commander Dave Learned and Adjutant Wayne Frost represented the Legion at the closing.

Allen has already made a number of improvements to the facility and plans to add several more inches of clay to the surface before the doors open for a practice session on May 20. Twilight racing will be held on Sundays with hot laps at 4:30 pm and racing at 5:00, starting Memorial Day Weekend, May 27. Sportsman Modifieds, Super Streets, Mini Stocks and 600cc Mini Sprints will be the weekly divisions while the Sprint Cars of New England and the Granite State Mini Sprints tours will make periodic visits.

Wally and Janine Brown, proprietors of Brownie’s Automotive in Enfield and third generation racers, will promote and operate the track.
“Janine and I are looking forward to working with Si to provide racers with a safe, fair place to race and giving fans a quick, action packed show that makes them want to come back again next week,” Wally Brown said.
